Lee Howell is an award-winning commercial photographer and creative retoucher from Edinburgh, Scotland, the UK. What Howell is particularly specialized in is advertising, fashion and contemporary editorial portraiture.

Recently Graduated With a BA in Photography

Only last year, Howell graduated with a BA (Bachelor in Arts) in Professional Photography. Moreover, the artist was in the same period awarded his Associateship into the British Institute of Professional Photography.

Howell indicates on the artist’s statement on his website:

“I try to approach all of my work with the same high amount of raw energy and enthusiasm. It’s all about having great concepts, bringing them into commercial practice and proving to the clients that you have a good creative mind as well as the technical tools to do the job…”

The artist continues:

“…I take a personal pride in building friendly, productive and professional working relationships with all those that the industry brings me into contact with and enjoy being involved with the creative input at all levels, rising to the challenge of each new venture or project, it is this passion that drives me.”

An Original, Distinctive Style Makes His Art Unique

As you will be able to see shortly, Howell’s work is unique in his methodology. The artist is able to produce strong, vivid imagery using a combination of photographic capture and postproduction techniques to achieve his peculiar, visually beautiful style.

A Sought-After Artist Winner of Numerous Awards

Howell’s constant and dedicated work has allowed the artist to win several awards during the past few years. His works have been lauded and awarded in the past in the categories of advertising, fashion, and portraiture. In 2013, the artist received an award at the Towergate Fine Art Awards for his image “Twins of Red Riding.”

Another piece of art by Howell, “False Advertising,” was awarded 3rd place at IPA Awards 2013, a prestigious international award. The artwork not only won the prize for the advertising category, but also gained three honorable mentions in the categories of portraiture, fashion, and beauty.

Adobe Recognition Added to Already Vast Resume

On the top of what Howell was able to achieve in just a few years, there is also to add his recognition by Adobe (creativity software products developer), who named him as one of the Adobe New Creatives personalities.

Moreover, his TRIBE project (see below) was featured on the front of Adobe Inspire Magazine. As if that wasn’t enough, the TRIBE series of images were chosen by Adobe to advertise for the launch of the company’s new Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 (graphics editing software) on the company’s website, together with the launch of their new Behance Wallpaper App in the Apple store.

Several Exhibitions Done, and Many More to Come

Howell’s works were extensively featured during the RETINA Scottish International Photography Festival 2014. Furthermore, during August of this year, Howell presented some of his pieces of art at Fashionscape Europe 2014, and at the Edinburgh Festival, on the busy streets of Edinburgh.

As for the future, Howell will present many more exhibitions not only in his own country, but also in Oslo, Norway (September 2014), and in the rest of the world.
