There is one game which is making headlines on the Web lately: Assassin's Creed IV (AC4) Black Flag. This is a hugely expected game, so much so I thought to gather here some info, images and videos for you to enjoy.
The Latest Baby in the Series
If you haven’t heard of Assassin’s Creed before, let me briefly explain: Assassin's Creed first release was in 2007, and is an action historical video game series consisting of 5 main games. These are:
- Assassin’s Creed.
- Assassin’s Creed II.
- Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
- Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
- Assassin’s Creed III.
- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Well, I said 5 because the 6th (Black Flag) is still not commercially available. The game’s developer is Ubisoft Montreal.
The series has been a gargantuan success since 2007; not only from the public, but from critics too. To date, the company has sold something like 55 million copies. Not many know that the Assassin’s Creed sequence is considered to be the “spiritual successor” of Prince of Persia series.
AC4 Black Flag
As I mentioned before, the Internet has been flooded with buzz about AC4 Black Flag. The game has not been released yet. Rumors say you’ll be able to buy it on the 29th of October 2013.
Let me give you some insights:
You are Edward Kenway, living in the 1713-1715 periods - the dawn of the 18th century - and your adventure takes place in the Caribbean. Pirates rule a Republic territory where there is no law.
Edward is a super cool, cold-blooded British fellow who is nevertheless a veteran fighter of the Royal Navy. The guy was trained by assassins and not a very pleasant company when he gets angry. Also, he is so much skilled with the sword, as well as disliking authorities, that earns the respect of legendary pirate Blackbeard who pushes Edward in the conflict that’s endangering all the pirates have built. Edward is able to switch between 4 flintlock pistols and cutlass swords.
As far as I understand, Edward will make use of Animus, which is a device appeared in earlier games also. The Animus is basically an expedient allowing Edward to experience his ancestral memories.
Our hero will stand among some legendary pirates, such as Blackbeard, Calico Jack as well as Benjamin Hornigold. He’ll explore something like 50 locations through the games. Moreover, Edward won’t be able to explore certain locations if you don’t build him a customized ship: The Jackdaw.
Once the ship is built, Edward will have to find his way out of jungles, fight in fisherman villages, search for lost treasures, kill rare animals - hopefully no animal protection association will break his balls -, defend himself from sharks, and there will be some underwater action also.
The naval part of the game makes up roughly 40% of the game; the rest will consist of a heterogeneous land environment for you, and Edward, to discover. Apparently AC4 is going to be the most varied of all the games in the series. Rumors say Edward will able to explore land from Nassau (Bahamas) to Kingston (Jamaica). That is quite a big geographical area.
